Royal Wedding Watchers

This morning, since we were up we watched the Royal Wedding. There weren’t any tea and crumpets served,  Avery had his a bottle and I had some cereal later. We really only watched it because it was on, but it was fun to see all the hats of the guests as the cameras scanned the church goers, the Bride looked beautiful and the groom was very handsome in is uniform but other then the fact that millions were watching it was just another wedding.  As I watched, Avery wasn’t to interested usually he likes to try and watch TV because of all the lights and moving figures but he didn’t even glance at the screen, I found myself thinking more about the mother who wasn’t there to see her son get married, what she would have worn and how things would have been different if she was there and what it would have meant to him if she could be. I hope they get a chance to enjoy their day and each other, Congratulations William and Kate!

Twins Fan

Avery sporting a Twins hat
Dressed in a Twins jersey Jon and a friend headed off to a Twins game tonight. Avery is hoping that it will be a good game and that is dad has fun. Avery did his part to bring the team some luck by wearing his Twins gear to daycare today, which at this point are some Twins socks because he doesn't have a Twins outfit yet but I've been keeping my eyes peeled for one I like.  Go Twins!

In Comparison

Today I held the first baby that wasn’t mine (since Avery was born) he was just a little guy (in comparison to Avery now) born 8 lbs and a few ounces and 22” long, he was a precious little baby, happy and loved. This happy little baby is where Avery has been sending his hand-me-downs, funny that some one so little has already out grown so many things.

Looking back at pictures you can see why I have boxed up and moved on so much to others. Happily there are some things that he owns that will take a bit longer to out grow, like his bucket , he can ride in that until he is 35 lbs.  I can see how he has grown but having his bucket as a means of measurement  really shows how much he has grown and changed.

So three cheers for hand-me-downs and things that stick around to show how much my baby has grown.

Rolling Nap aka First Outdoor Stroller Ride

Sunday being the nice day that it was, we decided to take advantage and go for a walk and take Avery on his first stroller ride outdoors. Sure he has been to the mall and a few other stores in his stroller but this was his first outdoor ride, something I personally was excited for.
Dressed and Ready to Go!
Even though it was warmish to me I still wanted him to be a bit bundled up, so I go him dressed in one of his warmer pants and jacket out fits (the jacket had ears on the hood, I’ve been waiting for the chance to put it on him) and put him in his bucket sans bucket hood so that he could see out the sides and added a thin blank on his feet just in case.
Can We Go Now?
Ready 2 Roll
Then we were off the four of us: me, Jon, Avery and Nico.  Avery was awake for the first 100 feet, I am not sure he even made it to the end of my parents driveway before he was napping but we went around the block anyway.
Rolling Napper
After his walk (our walk, his rolling nap time) we sat out side and soaked up a little sun, and Avery stretched out in his stroller to continue his nap.
Napping in the sunshine
It was a great day, the sun was shining and we had nothing to do but sit and relax.
What?Is the stroller ride over?

Yesterday we joined my parents and grandpa for a nice Easter lunch....we wanted to take a four generation picture and yesterday was the perfect chance, we did if before we ate (while everybody was still clean), good thing too cause Avery’s Easter outfit didn’t stay on too much after lunch, there was a bit of an explosion :)

And it was such a nice day Avery finally got to go for his first stroller ride!

Someone Else's Socks

Someone Else's Socks: Take 1
Some days Avery likes to play this game  of coming home from daycare wearing different clothes then he went wearing. He hasn’t played this game for a while now  but recently he has begun playing it again (he may possibly have some reflux) I usually drop him off wearing a sleeper, because I am not generally the mom who puts their kids in fancy little outfits to sleep and play on the floor all day....and then I pick him up wearing a different outfit, usually pants and long sleeve shirt or long sleeve oneie and someone else’s socks (they are loner socks from daycare it’s not like he is stealing someone else’s socks). It is a fun game for me to...will or wont he be wearing the same thing  I dropped him off in, I told daycare I play this game, and I guess a lot of parents play this game or they play the  how many changes of clothes with their baby go thru today. So far Avery has never had more then 2 outfit day during his daycare hours.
Someone Else's Socks: Take 2
At the most he has worn four different outfits in a day....pjs, dresses from the day, daycare change, pjs. Most of Avery’s clothes have been gifts, hand-me-downs or from garage sales so I haven’t had to spend a lot of money on his clothes, which is nice because when he only wears them for such a short time (hours wise and month wise) it’s nice not to have a lot invested. His drawers are filled with clothes to wear in any weather for the size he is now or will be soon, I am constantly moving too small clothes on and replacing them with “new” sizes or seasons, I like to call it the size and season shuffle, it’s fun to see him grow. Working on moving spring into the drawers.....now if spring would only come.

Ready Set Read

Checking out the ads

One of the things Avery like to do is "read" book and ads, especially when the books and ads have babies in them. It is so fun to watch him look at the pictures and get so excited about what he sees. Each day he is more and more alert and aware of the world around him. When you hold him he wants to be held upright so he can see and where he once only looked at the person holding him, now that is not the case, if your holding him he isn't going to look at you at all, he ready and wants to see it all.

Minnesota Weather

Trying to escape the cover on his bucket
Beginning of the week 70’s....End of the week Snow. It’s not fair, just when Avery thinks he will be able to go without the cover that is on his “bucket” aka car seat, the Minnesota weather takes a turn for the cold and wet. Don’t worry Avery it can’t last forever, spring and summer will come, and I will take you on your first stroller ride, but I think I will wait until you don’t need a snow suit .

Working Hard

while playing in his Bumbo
During the day I go to work, Jon goes to work and Avery goes to work. Avery has been working on learning all kinds of new things at daycare.  I am so very lucky that he can go to such a great place all day where they love and care for him as much as I do.

Helping Around the House

Avery helping with the laundry
Weekends should be for relaxing... not laundry. This past weekend Jon and I had wanted to get some things done around the house, somethings we have been trying to do since before Avery was born.
We have owned our house for 7 years this June and it has been in a constant state of construction since the day we bought it, hopefully soon all the tools will return the garage rather then live in my kitchen

We got some things done and have lots more to do but it is more fun to play with Avery then doing any amount of work on the house, so if you come to my house, it doesn't look like a magazine, not everything is where it belongs, it's not a total disaster or anything, it's our house and we live it.

New Trick!

Happy Baby!
Friday night Jon and I were just hanging out at home watching TV while Avery was playing on the floor under is jungle gym. He started talking to the animals and rolling around a little bit and then all of a sudden....he was on his tummy! Jon and I both got to see him do it so it was neat. We left him there for a little  bit (on his tummy) until his shock wore off (his and ours) and the appeal of being on his tummy was gone, then we picked him up and praised him for his new trick. Three cheers for Avery and his new trick.

Swingin' Good Time

Swinging and Smiling what a great combo
Every since Avery started daycare he has be in a swing everyday. The swings at daycare are not self propelled, like the one he has at home but he loves them both the same. There must be something about sitting up and seeing the world that he really likes because he seems to like his swings.

Shake Rattle and Roll

Rattle Time

We have been getting Avery to hold things in his hands for a while now, he doesn’t know that they are there but it’s still good practice. The other night he held on to a rattle and spent some time looking at it. He only dropped it on his head a few times, but he never let go of it, he also found out that it tastes good too.
Fun to look at and Tastes Great TOO!

Weekend Wrap Up

Just in from our walk around the yard
Our weekend started Friday night with our first trip outside without being in a car seat for a walk around the yard, then it was play time, then he had rest up for his Saturday adventures.
Friday Night Fun

Tired after a fun Friday night

Saturday our adventure was a trip to Rochester for a wedding. Usually he isn't a crier but during the ceremony he let out two loud cries so we decided to watch the rest of the service from the crying room. I think he was too hot in the church, I know I was. Then it was off to the reception where he started out fully dressed and by the time we left was down to only his oneie. He only slept on the way to the wedding so I thought he might crash the second we got in the car to go home, nope, it was still play time.
Having Fun at the wedding

Too hot to party in all those clothes

Sunday we went to see some friends, we had a great time. Avery even got a little nap in.

Another busy weekend at the Barbeau house, sometimes I am happy to see Monday come.

Our Family

One of the questions we get a lot being new parents with pets is how does the cat/dog like Avery? The answer is simple, they love him. People worry about cats and babies, because cats are curious people fear that the cat might jump into a crib and hurt the baby. But we have have no problems with Diesel and Avery. When Avery first came home Diesel wasn’t too sure what to think, he wasn’t scared he was just cautious, it took a little bit before D Baby would get too close, but now Diesel and Avery share a love of his jungle gym, Diesel rubs up against it and all the little animals hanging from it move and make noise much to the delight of Avery, pretty funny to watch.

Nico is a big dog so people might worry about him too but not to worry, Nico loves to cuddle with Avery just as much as the rest of us. Every once in a while Avery’s hand gets a little lick or he gets a cold wet nose on the forehead, and once Nico got a lick in on his pacifier (don’t worry we washed it off before we gave it  back)

Nico checking out Avery for the first time

Nico wanted to see Avery too

Nico loves Avery

Riding the dog like a small horse
is not frowned upon by this establishment
 .....Jon loves the e-trade commercials

Both of our furry babies love our other baby, when we feed Avery in his room they both sit room facing the door, guarding us, and you don’t need a monitor when with Nico and Diesel if Avery is crying they let you know, those two furry babies are looking out for Avery that is for sure.

Everybody was tired the first week Avery was home

Taking a nap before the round of guard duty
Our Family is a family of 5,
I am out numbered 4 to 1 but I love all my boys and wouldn’t trade them for anything.
