Snow Strider-ing

Well of course they make skies for a bike with no Peddles.... and of course Uncle Lee could not resit buying them for his nephew's Strider....
Sporting his uncle's favorite stocking hat under his 3-horn helmet our little dare devil took to the slopes of the back yard on Strider now equipped with skis. (I have to admit, the skis are pretty dang cool!)
Ready to Ride or is it Slide?
And he loved it.... so do did Uncle Lee, i think secretly he was wishing we would have had something like a snow strider when we were little.

First run!

Stuck in the Deep Pow!
Going solo!
Good thing Avery had a Lee there to carry him back up the hill so he could go down again..... but Lee, Avery is NOT luggage!

Birthdays = Bowling

Ever since one of Avery’s friends had her birthday party at the bowling ally, Avery thinks that anytime there is a birthday there should be bowling, or at least a trip to the bowling ally to play some games, and who are we to disagree?
Happy Bowler....stole mommy ball
Bowling is the greatest game, even if your terrible at it you can still have a good time, especially if you bring a 3 year old with you!
Bowling with Papa

Let me show you two how this is done...

Of course Avery will only bowl with a blue ball, and of course he has to carry it himself. But he does know that if you drop the ball it will hurt, and you might break a toe just like his friend did (we were reminded of that frequently).
It's my Turn!!

Strong Man coming thru!
Strike!!!

Speaking of frquently, I frequently had to remind a certain uncle that Avery was in fact, NOT Luggage.
Lee, Avery is NOT Luggage

Belated Birthday Party for Uncle Lee

Since Avery loves a good birthday party and we missed Lee’s back in December it was the perfect time to make up for that. Of course there was a cake with candles (Avery provided the decoration for Lee’s cake).

The birthday helper did his duty and helped blow out the candles, and licked the frosting off the cake decoration (even though I said not too).
Birthday Helper!

Uncle Lee said i could...

Lee thinking about stealing Avery's cake
Following the cake there were presents… presents for Avery that is.
oh boy....
Uncle Lee and Veronica made Avery’s day with 2 foam disc shooters and skies for his Strider bike. What a lucky boy.
Ready to Ride/Slide on the Strider
No night spent with Uncle Lee is complete without running ,jumping, riding and rough-housing!

First order of Business- Skiing

The first order of  business when Uncle Lee and Lady Veronica are in Minnesota during the winter (for the first time in YEARS!) is of course to go skiing! Avery was more then happy to show his uncle what being one of area pros was all about.
Ready to ski with Uncle Lee
And like any good uncle and thing the nephew wants he gets, and Avery wanted his uncle’s poles.
I be taking your poles now....

Double Trouble!
Being a ski coach who can frequently be heard reminding racers to pole plant, my soul smiled when Avery wanted/demanded to ski with poles, even thought this meant one more thing to keep track of... they seem to help him ski/turn better.
Skiing with Lee!

Mush!!!
Pole planting & turning like a pro!
Playing in the deep Pow!

Push!
Traditionally Avery is required to make as many runs as he is old (3) before he gets a “treat”, which most days is an apple or a cheese burger…. Today it was both!
Yum!

No I will not share with you uncle Lee
After fueling back Avery and Lee hit the slopes again for a couple more runs, this time with Avery sized poles.
Sporting Avery sized poles
Not sure who was more tuckered out after skiing, but I do someone feel asleep before we were out of the parking lot.
Tuckered out after all his turns!

Avery has now had 3 parties! So he can be officially 3 now I guess.  His third and final 3rd birthday party was at GG & Papa Terry's house. Daddy grilled hot dogs and brats, and we had lots of yummy things to eat! And of course there were cupcakes!
And presents.

Wuk Fut 2014

Hard to believe that it was just over a year ago that Avery was making his first ski runs down Mt. Kato and a few days later skiing as forerunner in his first race, the Wuk Fut! But here we are a year later, a few days after his 3rd birthday and he has again skied as a forerunner at the same race.
Wuk Fut 2014
And what a difference a year makes, last year i was doing all the skiing, but this year (when we were off the steep part of the hill) I let Avery go and followed him using his "reigns".
On his own!

Heading towards the finish!
I am so so very proud of him. He has never missed a Wuk Fut.... 3 for 3. Way to go buddy!
So so so proud!!!

Turing 3 Requires 3 Parties - (2nd Party)

Avery had one request for his birthday, he wanted to go bowling!  So we gathered the grandparents at the WOW Zone for some pizza, presents and some bowling fun....

Avery with Grammy & Papa

Avery with Papa Terry and GG

Well we did have fun but we didn't get to bowl, they were oiling the lanes for league so even though all the lanes were empty, there were no lanes for a 3 year old to bowl on. Try explaining that to a 3 year old, actually he took it pretty well, I think i was more disappointed for him that he was, he did keep asking when we could bowl so we just kept busy playing other things.
Jumbo pin and the birthday boy!
In spite of not being able to bowl he sure had a ton of fun. He got to play Terminator, bounce balls into a dog's mouth, play some skee ball, ride a motorcycle and drive a car, and that was all before the pizza was ready!
Playing Terminator with Daddy
So much Fun!
Skee ball is like bowling!

Taking a ride with Daddy

More Terminator with Papa
Driving with Mommy
Riding Solo!
We had pizza and presents and cupcakes! And we had a happy 3 year old on our hands!
Of course there was "Blue Juice"
Yummy Pizza!
King of the Cupcakes!

Yummy!
It was a great birthday party, even without the bowling. Two parties down, one to go!
Mommy and a 3 year old!

3 year old kisses for Daddy!
