2 years, 4 months

Happy Boy!

  At 2 years, 4 months, Avery wears size 8 shoes, 2T/3T pants/shorts now, 2T & 3T shirts, size 5 diapers and 3T Pjs. But I am not sure how much longer any of those sizes are going to fit him. Good thing it's garage sale season so we can stock up on the next sizes for the next seasons.

He loves to read, and loves new books, cars, truck, tractors are still on the top of his favorite things list.

Health wise: Avery had his check up with his ENT for tubes the other day, he has had 4 ear infections all with drainage since the tubes but the tubes are still in and looking great.

Monday Night Treat

It was a nice night so a special treat was in order. And because special treats are so much better when shared with special people, Avery and I picked up our friend Wylie to come to the Diary Queen with us.

Avery was over the moon, an ice cream cone, a motorcycle parked right by where we were sitting, a fire truck went by (twice), and best of all Wylie!

Peddle Power!

Somewhere along the line our little baby grew up into a little boy who can peddle a trike. I am sure this is a skill he learned at daycare because until today I had no clue he peddle, and surprise surprise he can peddle forwards and backwards.

April Showers Bring Snowplowers (and May flowers)

So the weather has been a bit strange this spring, schools have been 2 hours late and even canceled due to snow. But its Minnesota. Hopefully our weekly snow storms are over so everyone can get outside and play (with out winter coats, hats and mittens) Happy May day!

Vintage Toys

I found Avery the perfect "new" toy, the Fisher Price Little People Fire Station (1978).

  Not sure what it is about the old school Fisher Price Little People that Avery loves but he loves them! Maybe its because both of his Grandma lovingly saved the toys of their babies childhoods so that the next generation could play with them or maybe it just the draw of the possible lead paint or possible chocking hazzard that they proide that make them so great. Whatever it is Avery would rather play with the Little People from 1982 (or so) then the new ones. He has had the new farm, prefers the old farm, has the new Ramp and gas station but perfers the old.  It makes me smile, cause I really like the old school little people better too. The only problem with  your child like toys made in the 70's & 80's is you cant just run to target and buy a new one. So thank you ebay.

I'll Do It Myself!

We have a 2 year old... and we have now entered the "I can do it myself" stage.  Take getting dressed, he wears what he wants to wear and most days wants to put it on himself.

 

And when your 2, inside out, front and back, left and right, really are details you don't too much care about, so Avery usually goes for the "Criss, Cross" (for those who remember them) look. I love this kid, he always makes me smile :)

2 years, 3 months

Here are the stats for our silly little 2 year, 3 month old. He wears size 8 shoes, 2T pants, 2T & 3T shirts, size 5 diapers and 3T Pjs. We have been working on potty training for a while but not very seriously.

Swimming Lessons!

To help us thru the spring we signed Avery up for swimming lessons at the Y on Saturdays, and today was the first class. Avery is enrolled in SKIPS, basically a water safety/ water fun class for kids (6moths-36months) and their parents. So yes that means not only was Avery in swim lessons today, so were mommy and daddy.

Swimming lessons for a two year old are basically silly songs, splashing, blowing bubbles, jumping in and free time, but Avery loved every minute!

Bring on the Sand!!!

It looks like spring has finally arrived, so that means its time to get out the sand table and fill it was sand! This may sound like a dull task but oh no, it was the greatest thing in the world on a Wednesday night. Avery is the greatest helper his Papa could ever ask for. After getting the sand & water table out of storage and getting set up on  the deck it was time to get some sand.

Hoppy Easter 2013

Avery put the "hop" in Hoppy Easter this year and he as the oldest Grandchild lead his o'so willing cousins in bunny hopping on GG & Papas bed.

There were easter eggs and baskets to be found and treats to eat. It is always fun to see these 3 together. It was always a "hopping time".

Early Easter

Rather then hopping all over town :) on Easter Avery had an early Easter egg hunt with my parents. The look on his face when he found an egg filled with a treat was pure excitement and bliss.

Nothing in the world could have been better then finding not 1, but 5 large treat filled eggs and and 2 Easter baskets filled with more eggs, cars and a new bear.

P.S. Every treat Avery tried he took one bite of and moved on, he likes the idea of candy but doesn't actually eat it, except chocolate, he likes chocolate :)

Bunny Pictures 2013

This past Saturday, for the third year in a row Avery got to see the Bunnies at Drummers Garden Center.  Dressed in a spring-ish shirt we went to see the bunnies and get bunny pictures taken. I much prefer Easter Bunny pictures with live bunnies rather then the Easter Bunny pictures of my youth (aka some guy dressed up in a bunny bunny suit).

 Avery loves bunnies, and was so excited to see them. After the shortest wait for bunny pictures yet (pays to show up early sometimes) and a few warm up shots Avery showed off his bright smile for the camera.

92 and counting

Today is my Grandpa’s 92nd Birthday, so we celebrated.  Avery is very lucky (as am I) that he has such a amazing Great Grandpa, who we get to see all the time.

 The party wasn’t anything fancy, just family and food. And being the greatest, Great Grandpa there is,  Avery of course got to blow out the candles on his Great Grandpa’s cake.

First Day of Spring

What else do you do on the first day of spring in Minnesota, get all bundled up and go for a skidsteer ride with papa one last time.
Happy Spring, done worry the snow will melt and the grass will turn green, it just wont be today.

The Mankato Library - A Magical Place

Like many kids that grew up in the Mankato area the Mankato public library is one filled with many of my childhood memories. Finally I got to share the magical place that is the Mankato Library with Avery, and no big surprise but he loved it. He started with the fountain, almost every kids favorite.

From there we went into the wonderful children’s book area that is filled with books (of course) and toys and puppets and more books.

She checked out his books and he took them back and happily carried them to the car. The library has always been a magical place for me, and it was great to share it with Avery.

2 years, 2 months

Growing up so fast

I don't know it could be possible but I fall more and more in love with Avery everyday. He is the perfect mix of Me and his Daddy, and he means the world to us. Like always he is a silly little boy with lots of energy. He loves to drive anything with wheels, color, do puzzles and read. He loves to sing and talk and be silly. He also has better ipad skills then i do, even though he only gets to play with it for a few minutes every few nights.
It has been fun to see how his play has changed, he now talks to his toys and is great at pretending.

Size wise: He wears a size 5 diaper, 2T pants, 2T-3T shirts, and 3T Pjs and a size 8 shoe.
